Sideshow teamed up with Queer Memoir to do a Butch Voices NYC Conference related show at Bluestockings last weekend, and it was a huge success. There were at least a hundred people packed into the bookstore, and the pieces were fantastic.
Genne Murphy and Cheryl B. stepped in with Kelli Dunham and myself to host the show.

First up was Kelli Dunham, to open the show with a Queer Memoir set, reading a story about being a kid with a complicated gender in Wisconsin farmland.

Then came Ryann Makenzi Holmes, one of the folks behind the bklynboihood calendar (which you should really get ahold of, if you don’t have it already. Kristen and I picked one up after the reading and it’s beautiful.

Morgan Mann Willis read an impressive piece including secrets and confessions about butch identity and sex. Hot!
Then we switched gears and went into the Sideshow part of the evening. I didn’t get a shot of Cheryl, but rest assured she looked hot.

First up was Renair Amin, telling a story about getting an STI test and the awfulness that can be public health. Health care for all!

Kestryl Cael read a great piece about emotions, crying, and sharing feelings.
I (Sinclair) closed out the evening with a new butch poem I’ve been working on, tentatively titled Unsolicited Advice to a New Butch. I’ll be reading it at the Butch Voices Portland Gender/Queer spoken word show this next weekend, too!
I didn’t get a shot of myself, but Syd London was there and shot the whole thing professionally—and I got a few shots of Syd, too:

And I will of course post the shots Syd took as soon as they’re ready.
Thanks to everyone for coming out and listening to these butch voices speak!
